The Farndon Ferry’s menu is a celebration of rich, authentic flavors crafted from quality ingredients served with flair. Among the standout dishes, the Wild Mushroom & Tarragon Risotto is a sensory delight—creamy crème fraîche and crispy parmesan punctuate the earthy mushrooms, all subtly perfumed with winter truffle oil for an indulgent finish. For those craving hearty fare, the Twice Cooked Pork Belly promises tender, succulent meat paired expertly with bubble ’n’ squeak, bacon-wrapped green beans, and a crispy pork crackling that adds a satisfying crunch with every bite.
Classic British favourites also shine here. The Chefs Cut Cumberland Sausage with champ mash and sweet red onion gravy is a nostalgic plate elevated by careful seasoning and that perfect balance of textures, including golden onion rings adding a delightful crispness. The Sheppard’s Pie, rich with lamb and topped with crispy mashed potato and fried onions, offers a comforting, robust flavor profile accented by minted jus. And for a traditional treat, the freshly battered 5oz Fish & Chips stands as a testament to British culinary heritage, combining a light, crispy batter with tender fish inside.
Complementing the food, The Farndon Ferry’s cocktail menu offers inventive creations such as the sparkling “Ferry Lychini” or the refreshing “Boathouse Mule,” while the mocktails like Elderflower Spritz and Virgin Mojito provide equally vibrant, alcohol-free alternatives. Each drink is perfectly suited to sip leisurely while admiring the serene riverside views.
Guests consistently praise the restaurant’s generous portions and beautifully presented dishes. Marc notes the Sunday lunch as “super, flavourful, ample portion sizes,” while Laura describes it as the “best Sunday roast ever,” highlighting the inviting atmosphere and attentive service. Though some occasional waitstaff distractions are mentioned, these minor service hiccups are far outweighed by friendly management and the quality of the food. Lynda recounts a first-class, family-friendly experience, appreciating the attentive service and scenic riverside seating, making it a superb spot for all ages.
Ian Hunt’s reflection captures the spirit of The Farndon Ferry perfectly: it’s a welcoming place that combines outstanding food with a warm, attentive service style and a charming location that lends itself wonderfully to summer drinks and leisurely walks. Claudine’s description of a “relaxing warm atmosphere” paired with “very helpful and friendly” staff seals the impression of a venue that takes great pride in both its food and its hospitality.

Sunday lunch was super. Flavourful, ample portion sizes and well presented. The service was a little hit and miss, and it was a quiet time so not busy at all. Quite a few bar and wait staff stood talking which made waiting for drinks that never turned up a little annoying. Nothing dramatic and won't stop us visiting again as the food was lovely. Also, a chap who I think was the manager was lovely. We had one coeliac in our party too; very well catered for, and the manager chap was very knowledgeable and confident about ingredients and what was available.
Absolutely gorgeous Sunday roast, best we’ve had ever! Service spot on with lovely staff and great atmosphere. The breads and dipping with garlic as a starter was beautiful too! Great value, and lovely views of the river, will definitely be back x
Absolutely first class experience from entering the premises to leaving them. We'd booked in advance but at the time we arrived it wasn't too busy. Visited with my son and little granddaughter. Seated in the window with a view of the river. Service was first class. Never without a drink or attention. I ordered the nut roast Sunday lunch. Son ordered beef and granddaughter had pizza (kids, eh!). The meals arrived hot and looked delicious. We added mash and cauliflower cheese, which were divine. All in all the meals were great. Best Sunday lunch I've ever had actually. The nut roast was a very generous portion and absolutely delicious. We ordered desserts: chocolate torte with cherries and ice cream. Very rich. I had sticky toffee pudding with hot toffee sauce and ice cream. To die for. Granddaughter had vanilla ice cream. Lattes, Fruit Shoot and lager drinks consumed. Honestly a faultless dining experience. Attentive staff. Efficient service and outstanding food. If I didn't live 1.5 hours drive away I'd be a regular visitor. Big car park with overflow. Good toilet facilities. Beautiful restaurant. Outdoor seating and tables. Riverside walks and woodland walks. Perfect location altogether.
Absolutely lovely. Not been here for a while and glad we did. Service was outstanding and food was amazing.. To make it even better, they had an early bird special menu which was nice surprise. Highly recommend and a great location for summer drinks and walks.
Lovely food, great relaxing warm atmosphere. Very good service. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Never been here before and my wife chose here as we like to try out places we've never been before and although this place was tucked away, we loved it. A lovely gem of a place, staff were friendly and welcoming, we chose the special (starter and main for £20, that with a pudding £25 I think), as it was my birthday, I went for the 3. My starter, main and pudding I couldn't fault. Absolutely lovely. Steak cooked to perfection. We went around 1pm so sat in the quieter part of the restaurant. Colby kept us entertained anytime he walked past us which made us laugh, Lilly was very friendly, welcoming and polite. Couldn't of asked for a better start to my birthday and would advise if you've not been there to give it a try. You'll pleasantly surprised.
We had an amazing experience dinning here! There was a mistake with our table and we waited very long time for our food to arrive, however the manager came to our table to apologise for the inconvenience of being waiting a lot longer than all other costumers. She offered us 50% off of the total of our bill, this is what I think that is a 5 starts service, compensating the costumers appropriately for a mistake made by the restaurant. The food was delicious, from starters to mains, to desserts and also the drinks. Specially the vegetarian roast it was incredible. We were 8 people and everyone loved their food. All the staff is very friendly and polite. We had a great time, our table it was located by the window with a view of the river. We live in London but as soon as we have a change we certainly will be returning, we left with the feeling that we would love to try everything from the menu.
